Artifact 1
Lobster Dress
This dress is made from printed silk organza and synthetic horsehair. I designed this dress in collaboration with Salvador Dalí. He designed the lobster on the dress and I designed the dress. This dress was part of my Summer/Fall 1937 Collection. It was famously worn by Wallis Warfield Simpson.
Artifact 2
Schiaparelli Gloves
I was inspired to create these gloves from one of Picasso's paintings. The painting had hands that looked like gloves. I was inspired to flip-flop the concept and create a pair of gloves to look like hands. I also created gloves with metal talons. I have used hands in many of my other designs.
Artifact 3
The Tears Dress
This was a slender pale blue evening gown and worn with a thigh-length veil. On it is printed with a Dalí design. The design is intended to give the illusion of torn animal flesh. The tears printed to represent fur on the reverse of the fabric. It is part of the February 1938 Circus Collection.
Artifact 4
The Shoe Hat
This hat was a collaboration with Salvador Dali. Who was a surrealist artist. The idea came from a photograph taken by Dali's wife Gala, showing the artist wearing a woman's shoe on his head and another one on his shoulder. The hat is shaped like a woman’s high-heeled shoe. It was made to wear with a black dress and jacket embroidered with red lips. It has the heel standing straight up and the toe tilted over the wearer’s forehead.
Artifact 5
Shocking de Schiaparelli Perfume
Although I was making money from dressmaking I decided to go in to the perfume business. It was actually far more profitable. There were many people who could never aspire to one of my dresses bought my perfumes. The bottle is in the shape of a woman's torso inspired by Mae West's tailor's dummy and Dalí paintings of flower-sellers. The box is in Shocking pink my signature color.
Artifact 6
Necklace of Metal Insects
This necklace has metal insects mounted on clear plastic. The idea of this necklace was to create the illusion of insects crawling on the neck. I have incorporated insects in some of my other designs. This is one of my many original ideas. My people had never seen a design like this before. It was new and different and I think is scared some people.

Sleeping de Schiaparelli and Le Roy Soleil ("Ray of Sun")
These are two more of my famous perfumes. Sleeping de Schiaparelli was created to mirror a candle. We sold it as a night perfume, it was meant to be put on before falling into bed. The turquoise blue of the packaging was also a new color called Sleeping blue. Le Roy Soleil was a perfume bottle designed by Salvador Dali in 1946 to celebrate the end of WWII.
